Moston is dominated by inter-war and post-war housing — long rows of semis and short terraces, mostly concrete tile with the occasional original slate roof surviving on the older streets around Moston Lane and St Mary's Road. The tiles themselves usually have plenty of life left; it's the mortar bedding on ridges and verges, the perished felt underneath and the original timber roofline that tend to fail first.
