Guttering Solutions Designed to Protect Your Home from Damage

Your guttering system is an important part of your property’s overall weather protection. It collects rainwater running off the roof and directs it towards suitable drainage points, helping prevent water from overflowing onto external walls, doorways and the surrounding ground. When gutters become blocked, damaged or poorly aligned, rainwater may spill over the edges, potentially contributing to damp patches, damaged brickwork, rotting fascia boards and water pooling around your property.
At Moston Roofing, we provide guttering services tailored to the needs and condition of your home. Whether your existing gutters are leaking at the joints, sagging under the weight of debris or no longer draining effectively, we assess the problem and recommend appropriate work. We can also help with new gutter installations and replacement systems where existing components have deteriorated beyond practical repair.

Prevent Damp, Overflow and Costly Repairs with a Well-Maintained Guttering System

Your gutters work throughout the year to carry rainwater safely away from your roof and property. However, leaves, moss, dirt and other debris can gradually build up inside the system, restricting water flow and causing blockages. Damaged joints, loose brackets and incorrectly positioned gutters can also prevent rainwater from draining as it should.
If these problems are left unresolved, overflowing water may contribute to damp walls, stained brickwork, damaged fascias and soffits, and water pooling around the building. During colder weather, trapped water can also freeze and place additional strain on guttering components.

Keep Rainwater Under Control with a Reliable Guttering

Effective guttering helps protect your property by collecting roof runoff and directing it towards appropriate drainage points. When the system is installed correctly and kept in good condition, it can help reduce water overflow, protect external walls and prevent rainwater from collecting unnecessarily around your home.
At Moston Roofing, we provide practical guttering solutions for properties across Stockport and Greater Manchester. Whether you are dealing with leaking joints, blocked downpipes or an ageing guttering system, we assess your requirements and recommend work suited to the condition of your property.

A top roofer. We had various roofers failing to repair our gulleys and had a persistent leak. James found the cause of our leak and repaired that. He repaired the gulleys with flexible sides to handle the temperature changes. He guaranteed his work. Very responsive. Friendly team. Highly recommended.

We needed our roof replacing due to leaks and damaged tiles. We knew it was going to be a lot of work and after having a string of dodgy roofers do work at our house we were nervous but we shouldn't have been. Moston Roofing were brilliant, the work quality was superb, they communicated ever step of the way and they were very friendly which made the disruption of a roof replacement a lot easier to deal with. I would highly recommend Moston Roofing!

If only all tradespeople held themselves to James' does! He's been twice now and done good work at reasonable prices. He also didn't attempt to increase the size of the job by telling me I needed more done than I actually did.

We reached out to James at Moston Roofing following some leaks on our valleys due to a poor quality new roof by the previous owners. From previous experience with roofing work, I wanted a proper job, so looked for companies registered with the confederation of roofing contractors, and came across Moston Roofing. James popped round and explained a few approaches, trying to minimise costs for us while doing a proper job in unpredictable autumn weather. We had a couple of other quotes and Moston came out competitively priced, and James clearly knew his stuff. I read the reviews on Which, Checkatrade etc and my only concern was that all the 5* ratings seemed too good to be true! However... Moston absolutely delivered on the job, managing to fit us in 2 weeks earlier due to a cancellation and our pressing needs to fix the leaks. They worked in a tidy manner and replaced the lead valleys promptly, and gave us a few options along the way. They also replaced our front guttering and downpipes, which was a bit complex due to the shape and roof height. James has popped back a couple of times to double check the mortar had set and gutters are draining, to ensure that they have done a job to last. He is a great communicator and very honest and easy to work with. I would use again without question... but would rather not have a 3rd roof to fix!

The team was polite professional, efficient, and clearly skilled, completing the job on time and with minimal disruption. They took care to clean up thoroughly afterward, and the quality of the repointing is excellent, and I feel confident in the quality of the work. I’d highly recommend Moston Roofing Ltd for anyone in need of reliable roofing services!

Common Roofing Questions, Answered Honestly

Roofing is a trade where it’s hard to know what a fair price or a fair diagnosis looks like. Here are the questions we get asked most in Stockport, with straight answers.

How much does guttering cost in Stockport
The cost depends on the length of guttering required, the material selected, the number of downpipes, access requirements and whether the existing system needs to be removed. Minor repairs will generally cost less than replacing the entire guttering system. Moston Roofing can assess your requirements and provide a written quotation before work begins.
Many properties benefit from having their gutters inspected and cleaned at least once or twice a year, particularly during autumn when leaves and debris can accumulate. Properties near trees may require more frequent attention. Regular checks can help identify blockages, loose brackets and leaking joints before they cause further problems.
If the problem is limited to a loose bracket, leaking joint or isolated damaged section, a repair may be sufficient. However, widespread cracking, repeated leaks, extensive sagging or deterioration across multiple sections may make replacement more practical. A professional assessment can help determine the most suitable option for your property.
Common signs include water overflowing during rainfall, water spilling over the edges, visible debris, blocked downpipes and damp patches on external walls. You may also notice plants growing inside the gutters or water collecting near the base of your property. If you notice these issues, arrange an inspection and avoid climbing ladders to access gutters yourself.
