Drone Roof Surveys

Inspecting a roof can be challenging, particularly when it involves steep pitches, difficult-to-reach areas or signs of damage that are not visible from the ground. At Moston Roofing, our drone roof survey service helps assess the condition of your roof using aerial imagery, providing a closer look at potentially vulnerable areas without the need to access every section directly. Whether you’re concerned about missing tiles, damaged flashing, storm damage or general roof deterioration, a drone survey can help identify visible issues and support informed decisions about maintenance and repairs. Serving Stockport and Greater Manchester, we aim to make roof inspections more convenient, efficient and straightforward for property owners.

Detailed Roof Inspections to Help You Understand Roof's Condition

Your roof plays a vital role in protecting your property, but identifying problems can be difficult when important areas are high above the ground or obstructed from view. Traditional roof inspections may require ladders, scaffolding or other access equipment, depending on the building and the nature of the inspection. Drone roof surveys offer an alternative way to capture aerial views of accessible roof areas, helping highlight visible defects and areas that may need further investigation.
At Moston Roofing, we use drone roof surveys to help property owners gain a clearer understanding of their roof’s visible condition. High-resolution aerial images can help reveal issues such as slipped or missing tiles, damaged ridge tiles, deteriorating roof coverings, blocked valleys and defects around chimneys or other roof features. These images can also support assessments following severe weather or help document the condition of a roof before planned maintenance.

Identify Visible Roofing Problems Without Unnecessary Access Equipment

Roofing issues can develop in places that are difficult to inspect from the ground, including roof valleys, ridge lines, chimney surrounds and high or steep roof sections. Without a clear view of these areas, visible damage may go unnoticed until it contributes to leaks or more extensive deterioration.
A drone roof survey provides aerial images that can help identify potential problems and establish which areas may need attention. It can be particularly useful for larger properties, complex roof designs and buildings where conventional access is difficult. By gaining a better view of the roof, you can make more informed decisions about maintenance, repairs or further inspections.

A Clear and Efficient Approach to Drone Roof Inspections

1

Initial Assessment

We discuss your concerns, establish the areas of the roof that need attention and determine whether a drone survey is suitable for your property.

2

Aerial Inspection

Where conditions and permissions allow, we capture aerial images of accessible roof areas to look for visible damage, deterioration and potential maintenance concerns.

3

Findings and Advice

We review the available imagery, explain any visible concerns and recommend appropriate next steps, including repairs or a closer inspection where necessary.

Make Informed Roofing Decisions with a Clearer View

Keeping your roof in good condition starts with understanding its visible condition and identifying areas that may require attention. A drone roof survey can provide useful aerial imagery of hard-to-see sections, helping you spot potential problems and decide whether further inspection or maintenance is needed.
At Moston Roofing, we aim to make the roof assessment process straightforward by helping property owners understand visible roofing concerns before deciding on the next steps. Whether you are investigating suspected storm damage, planning roof repairs or checking an older roof, aerial imagery can provide valuable information to support the process.

Our Drone Roof Survey Services Include

The precise scope of each survey depends on roof accessibility, weather conditions, visibility and applicable flight restrictions. Drone imagery is a visual assessment tool and may need to be supplemented by a physical inspection.

A top roofer. We had various roofers failing to repair our gulleys and had a persistent leak. James found the cause of our leak and repaired that. He repaired the gulleys with flexible sides to handle the temperature changes. He guaranteed his work. Very responsive. Friendly team. Highly recommended.

We needed our roof replacing due to leaks and damaged tiles. We knew it was going to be a lot of work and after having a string of dodgy roofers do work at our house we were nervous but we shouldn't have been. Moston Roofing were brilliant, the work quality was superb, they communicated ever step of the way and they were very friendly which made the disruption of a roof replacement a lot easier to deal with. I would highly recommend Moston Roofing!

If only all tradespeople held themselves to James' does! He's been twice now and done good work at reasonable prices. He also didn't attempt to increase the size of the job by telling me I needed more done than I actually did.

We reached out to James at Moston Roofing following some leaks on our valleys due to a poor quality new roof by the previous owners. From previous experience with roofing work, I wanted a proper job, so looked for companies registered with the confederation of roofing contractors, and came across Moston Roofing. James popped round and explained a few approaches, trying to minimise costs for us while doing a proper job in unpredictable autumn weather. We had a couple of other quotes and Moston came out competitively priced, and James clearly knew his stuff. I read the reviews on Which, Checkatrade etc and my only concern was that all the 5* ratings seemed too good to be true! However... Moston absolutely delivered on the job, managing to fit us in 2 weeks earlier due to a cancellation and our pressing needs to fix the leaks. They worked in a tidy manner and replaced the lead valleys promptly, and gave us a few options along the way. They also replaced our front guttering and downpipes, which was a bit complex due to the shape and roof height. James has popped back a couple of times to double check the mortar had set and gutters are draining, to ensure that they have done a job to last. He is a great communicator and very honest and easy to work with. I would use again without question... but would rather not have a 3rd roof to fix!

I recently had Moston Roofing Ltd repoint my chimney, and I’m very pleased with their work. The team was polite professional, efficient, and clearly skilled, completing the job on time and with minimal disruption. They took care to clean up thoroughly afterward, and the quality of the repointing is excellent, and I feel confident in the quality of the work. I’d highly recommend Moston Roofing Ltd for anyone in need of reliable roofing services!

Common Roofing Questions, Answered Honestly

Roofing is a trade where it’s hard to know what a fair price or a fair diagnosis looks like. Here are the questions we get asked most in Stockport, with straight answers.

What problems can a drone roof survey identify?
A drone roof survey uses a camera-equipped drone to capture aerial images of your roof. These images help assess the visible condition of roofing materials, roof edges, chimneys, valleys and other elevated features. The findings can help identify potential problems and determine whether further inspection or repair work is needed.
A drone survey can help reveal visible issues such as missing or slipped tiles, damaged ridge coverings, deteriorating flat roof surfaces, debris and apparent damage around chimneys or roof valleys. However, it cannot reliably identify every hidden defect, internal leak or underlying structural problem. Further inspection may be necessary to confirm suspected issues.
Drone surveys can provide useful aerial views of hard-to-reach areas without requiring direct access to every section of the roof. They can be particularly helpful for high buildings or complex roof designs. However, traditional inspections may still be necessary to assess concealed defects, examine materials at close range or carry out physical testing. The most suitable method depends on your property and the problem being investigated.
The cost depends on the size and design of your roof, the accessibility of the property, the scope of the survey and whether additional inspection or reporting is required. Contact Moston Roofing to discuss your requirements and confirm the availability and cost of a suitable survey before booking.
